People’s perspective on what art is or can be, may seem kind of limiting. It’s the artists job to break those limiting beliefs, in almost every way. There are a lot of people in the sex industry who have struggled with sexual abuse or trauma at some point in their lives. Myself being one of them. I was sexually taking advantage of by two of my babysitters, both older girls at separate occasions, not connected, when I was very young. I’ve also done a lot of therapy of various different kinds over the years to deal with lots of different kinds of sexual traumatic experiences that I’ve had personally. And I know it’s the same for a lot of other porn creators and sex workers, because I’ve talked to them about it. Doing this kind of sex work for a living can be very healing and therapeutic, but if there is any sort of residual trauma , sexually from anybody in this kind of work, I would say seek some kind of therapy first, because that is what helped me, and I know a lot of people who are in this field of work may struggle trying to balance the overly sexual aspect of our lives with the more normal in public parts. All I’m trying to say is, don’t let your sexual trauma be in control of your life like it was for me for many many years.
Another small piece of advice I would like to give to anyone wanting to make, and sell adult content would be to be wary of gatekeepers. I’ve had some interactions with some pretty famous and well-known adult content creators. Where I was just a little bit, appalled and disgusted with their arrogance. The same gatekeepers will try to belittle you and discourage you. I’ve even had one or two get some of their other “business associates” to try to block me and stop my momentum and movement. All over some minor discrepancies that could’ve been talked out, calmly and professionally. But yeah, people can be very competitive in this line of work , though it may not always seem like it. There are a lot of phonies out there. They like to play and fake like their “nice guys” but they aren’t. So carry your discernment with you at all times. Even with just talking to people online. But at the end of the day, more importantly, have fun, and be safe. And don’t let anyone, no matter how high up the ladder they are or may seem to be, try to break your spirit. Create great quality art, and be prolific! And don’t ever stop doing it, until you get what you want out if it. That’s what being an artist is really truly about, in my opinion.
